Going to California with your dogs? Why not take them to a fun event! They are a great way to socialize with other dog lovers, and most of them are benefits. Or, if you travel and leave your dog at home, come to an event to help and play with other dogs!

Carmel Valley, California
This event will take place on August 2, and it is $5 to enter your dog. There are competitions for some serious categories, like best groomed, and also some silly ones, like best dog/owner lookalike. It is a benefit for various youth organizations.

Summer Pawty
Los Gatos, California
Though this town is named “The Cats,” it will host a spectacular dog event on September 26. It costs $5 per dog, but humans will get a free gift and food and drinks. There will be some performances, such as by the Santa Clara Police’s Canine Unit, and even Dancing with the Dogs. You can get your dog sketched by an artist, and there will be vendors, fun activities and raffle prizes.

Wiggle Waggle Walk
Pasadena, California
This walk is happening on September 27, and is great if you’re in the LA area and want to get some exercise! Everyone and their dog is invited, and thousands of people show up annually to walk or run around the Rose Bowl. You can pat a donation that goes to the Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA, which helps out over 12,000 animals. There will also be dozens of booths that have bedding, clothing, toys and treats, and there are vet services and nutritional items.

Delta Breeze Doggie Pageant
Lathrop, California
Come down on October 3 and help benefit the Lathrop Animal Services. It will be $10/person, and activities include a dog parade, animal blessing and presentations. Also a dog pageant for Best in Show and Best Dressed.

Surf City Surf Dog
Huntington Beach, California
This event will go from October 10-12, and will have tons of dogs, surfers, families and dog lovers. There will be a selection of over 40 exhibits and booths, along with great contests like the Best in Costume or the Obstacle Course. It is a benefit for pet and dog-related nonprofits and public awareness. Huntington Beach is definitely worth checking out, being one of the most beautiful beaches in the state! If you or your dog get restless from the crowds, go stroll around the beach and watch the surfers.
