The Jersey shore is apparently where it’s at, especially in prime locations like Atlantic City and Ocean City. Atlantic City is a famous tourist spot on the shore because it has many casinos, as well as a boardwalk, beaches, nightlife and shopping.
Ocean City is considered a wonderful family resort, and is a quiter place that has a boardwalk, beaches and some shopping. Both of these spots are good places to take dogs on vacation, because there are some fun outdoor activities that are in the area.
Civil Rights Garden
Located in Atlantic City, the Civil Rights Garden is a quaint public sculpture garden with columns, a reflecting pool, pathways, sculptures dedicated to history, Ginkgo trees and flowers. Leashed dogs are welcome in this outdoor space.
Historic Absecon Lighthouse
The Historic Absecon Lighthouse is located in Atlantic City. It is over 150 years old, and is also the tallest lighthouse in the state of New Jersey. Leashed dogs are welcome to this attraction, and there are two acres around its premises.
Bay Cats Rentals
Bay Cats is a sailboat and kayak rental company in Ocean City that allows leashed dogs to board these boats and cruise along the water. It is recommended that dogs be used to traveling on water before getting on a rental. Humans and dogs are forbidden from entering protected islands that are off in the water.
Cape May County Dog Park
Located in Ocean City, the Cape May Count Dog Park is a fenced-in, off-leash canine play area. This park is about one acre in size, and is divided into different sections. Amenities include water fountains for dogs and people, benches, a shaded area and agility equipment.
Corson’s Inlet State Park
Corson’s Inlet State Park is a park located on the waterfront, and is full of interesting biodiversity in its natural habitats, like dunes and undisturbed sanded areas. Some people come here for fishing, crabbing, birdwatching and hiking. Leashed dogs may hike around the park, but they are forbidden from going on the beach from April 1-September 15.
Penn State Forest
Penn State Forest is located in Tuckerton, New Jersey, and has some pine and oak forests for hiking, as well as areas for picnicking. This park also has Lake Oswego, where people go fishing and boating. Leashed dogs are welcome at this state forest.
Bashful Banana Cafe
The Bashful Banana Cafe is a boardwalk restaurant in Ocean City that serves sandwiches, deserts and other light foods. Leashed dogs may sit at the outdoor tables.
