Kansas City, Missouri, is located on the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri Rivers. It is the most populous city in Missouri, and has one of the best tap waters in the nation! It is a relatively big city with plenty of different areas to explore with your dog, and you can easily leave the city if you have a car to go explore wine country.

Harry S Truman Farm Home

Located in Independence, Missouri, this is the historic farm house of former president Harry S Truman. This house was built by his grandmother, and he lived here from 1919 until his death. Dogs are not allowed within the house, but are welcome on leash around the grounds.

Walk and Tour Wesport

This a a great historical tour, that you can take a map and do yourself. Westport is located in the heart of Kansas City, and hosted its first citizens in the nineteenth century. Dogs are allowed on leash on most of the walking tours, but not usually in the buildings. You can go to cemeteries, Civil War sites and around buildings. Westport today is full of many shops and restaurants in historic buildings.

Stonehaus Farm Winery

This winery is located in Lees Summit, Missouri (20 minutes from KC), and is open seven days a week, though the hours depend on the season. Dogs are allowed on leash can go around the property and patio. They serve a light lunch including sausage, cheese and crackers. They serve award winning wines, like red Cynthiana, the Missouri state grape, on a panoramic view of vineyards and berry fields.

New Oak Vineyards

This winery is located in Wellington, Missouri (35 minutes from KC), and open Wednesday through Sunday, though hours depend on the season. Dogs are allowed on leash through the property and patio. They offer red wines like Giuseppe and Chambourcin, and whites like Vignoles.

Barkville Pet Boutique

This is a cute, clean shop to go with your dog, who must be on leash. They sell designer clothing, treats, grooming products, bedding and jewelery.

This is French bistro with nice wines, and dogs are allowed on outdoor tables.

McCormick and Schmick’s

This is a chain seafood restaurant, that has a wide variety of food, seasonal specials and a full bar. Dogs are allowed at outdoor tables.

Shields Manor Bistro

This is a cute restaurant that is set in a 150 year old house, that has fancy food and homemade desserts. Dogs are allowed at outdoor tables. It is only open for dinner Thursday through Saturday and reservation is required.
