Fort Lauderdale is an American beach hotspot, famous for spring-breakers and general vacationers. There are many pet-friendly hotels and even campsites, and you can enjoy the many water and warm-weather activities with your dog. Make sure to take along lots of water and towels for everyone!

ft-lauderdale-dogBoat Rental:

If you and your dog feel like some adventure, you can rent a boat from Club Nautico and take your dog along for the ride. They rent out powerboats to ride on the inland waterways.

Walk:

If you like history, you can take your leashed dog on the Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk. It goes along the river for 1.5 miles through the Docks and Waterways, Las Olas Riverfront, Florida Grand Opera and Esplanade Park. Every first Sunday, you and your dog can go to the outdoor jazz brunch. It is near the Las Olas shopping district, which is also a nice walk. This is accessible all hours of the day, 365 days a year.

Beach:

No one goes to Ft Lauderdale without visiting the beach, so your dog cannot miss out. You can take it to Canine Beach, which is a 100 yard stretch that is accessible to dogs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the evenings. You can purchase a weekend permit, and your dog must be leashed.

Park:

Synder Park is a 93-acre park, complete with nature trails, fishing, sports fields and spring-fed lakes. There is the two-acre Bark Park that has dog and human level water fountains, benches, picnic tables, leash stations, hose stations, scooper supply depots and garbage bins. Dog Swim at Synder Park is open all week in the East Lake. Dogs must be social and well-behaved.

Outdoor Dining:

One option is the Briny Riverfront Pub, which is located on the river front under the Las Olas parking lot. It is well-shaded, serves food until 11, then turns into a bar at night with its full liquor bar.

If you like Italian food, you can go to Kitchenetta, which has family style or individual cuisines. It is famous for pizza, pasta and paninis. Dogs must be leashed and well-behaved, but are allowed at the outdoor tables.

If you want seafood or local cuisine, try Coconuts, where dogs are allowed on the patio. There is live entertainment Thursday and Friday nights, as well as Steel Drum on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. It is very close to the beach, and you can view beautiful sunsets.
