Minneapolis, Minnesota, has a handful of fun off-leash dog parks around the city. To access the off-leash dog parks maintained by the city, owners are required to apply for off-leash recreation area permits.

Saint Anthony Parkway Off-Leash Recreation Area

This fenced dog park is 2.3 acres in size, located across the street from the Columbia Golf Learning Center. It is open from 6:00 AM-10:00 PM, and it features benches, a double-gated entrance, waste bags and trash cans. This park is located in greater Columbia Park, where dogs can be on leash.

Franklin Terrace Off-Leash Recreation Area

This 1.6 acre dog park was one of the first dog parks in Minneapolis, and is a double-gated, fenced-in area that is located in the southern part of Riverside Park. This dog park has a lot of wood chips, so it gets a bit muddy when it is rainy. It is open from 6:00 AM-10:00 PM daily.

Loring Park Off-Leash Dog Park

This off-leash dog park is situated on the north side of Loring Park, and is about a quarter acre in size. There is grass, boulders, trees, a bridge and gravel. Its hours are 6:00 AM-10:00 PM.

Lake of the Isles Off-Leash Recreation Area

Lake of the Isles has 3.6 acres of off-leash grounds, on the southern part of Lake of the Isles (where dogs must be leashed). The southern end of this park is lighted, and its hours are 6:00 AM-10:00 PM.

Minnehaha Off-Leash Recreation Area

This 4.3 off-leash area is located in the south of Minnehaha Park, and it is partially fenced. There is a path in the park that leads to the dog area, and there is a separate part for small dogs. Its hours are 6:00 AM-10:00 PM.

Gateway Park Play Area

The Gateway Park Play Area is a small downtown dog park that has a water bowl feature, benches, little grass ottomans, mature trees and fencing. It is operated by Dog Grounds.

North Loop Dog Grounds

The North Loop Dog Grounds is an off-leash area that is located downtown, next to the Herschel Lofts Building. It is a newer park that has been around since 2007, and is about 6,000 square feet. It is also operated by Dog Grounds.
