There are plenty of great dog parks around Northern New Jersey. They make for a good day trip outside of NYC! Just beware of high tolls on the bridges and tunnels, but otherwise they’re a fun time.

Riverside County Park

Lyndhurst, New Jersey

There is an off-leash dog park and playground in the greater Riverside County Park. It is secured with a four foot fence. There is ample parking, trash cans and benches. There is also a separate area for large and small dogs.

Ramapo Valley County Reservation

Mahwah, New Jersey

This isn’t an official dog park, so your dog must be on a leash. However, it is a beautiful reserve with over 2000 wooded acres. People go there to hike, fish, and observe the pond and waterfall. A good way to get in touch with nature in the midst of the most densely populated state!

Samuel Nelkin County Park

Wallington, New Jersey

This park has a dog park with separate areas for big and small dogs. The greater park has tennis courts, a softball field and a picnic area.

Wood Dale County Park

Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey

This park has an off-leash dog run. The greater park has fishing, a bike path, a playground and tennis courts.

Riverside Animal Park

North Arlington, New Jersey

This dog park is fenced-in and has some agility equipment. The fence is fairly low, so be careful your dog doesn’t jump over it!

Wild Duck Pond

Ridgewood, New Jersey

This dog park has two separate fenced areas, one for bigger and one for smaller dogs. There’s also a pond if your dog likes to jump around in the water.

Overpeck County Park Dog Run

Leonia, New Jersey

This is a small off-leash dog run located in the greater Overpeck County Park. The greater park contains a playground, running track, bike path and sports courts.

Essex County South Mountain Dog Park

Mountainside, New Jersey

This dog park has two separated areas for large and small dogs. It is a great park to visit because it comes with all sorts of slides and ramps. It also has water fountains for dogs.

Echo Lake Dog Park

Mountainside, New Jersey

This park is around 3 acres in size. Waste bags and buckets are available.

Watsessing Park Dog Park

Bloomfield, New Jersey

This dog park is fenced, and has benches, dog water fountains, and a double gated entry.
