When we lived in an apartment, we had no choice in the hot weather but to walk our dog across a parking lot to the pet area.
We tried to keep her on a schedule of 'potty in the wee wee small hours!' (when the sun wasn't high in the sky) But there were times we had no choice but to walk in the heat. The best idea we came up with was to put a cold, wet big bandana around her neck and mostly covering her shoulders...It helped keep her cooler. We also got a small mist bottle we kept in the 'fridge until it was walk time...before and after she walked across the pavement, we sprayed her paws with the cold water. Bring a spare wet bandana to wipe their paws too.
But as far as the car is concerned, there's NOTHING that can help...Kathy's 100% right..NEVER EVER leave them in the car. If you doubt this, go sit in your own car on a sunny 72dg. day with the window only cracked and see ow YOU fare! It gets WAY too hot FAR faster than you could imagine!!!
