Now that the holiday weekend has passed, you might be looking for some activities to do with your family and furry friends that is fun and helps out other animals. Here’s a few events happening in different cities. If you don’t live near any of these places, you can always check with your local shelter, humane society, and pet stores to see what local events are happening that are pet friendly.
Buster’s Summer Bash is on July 16 from 11am to 2pm in Longmont, Co. It’s free and promises to be fun. There’s going to be contests such as diving for tennis balls, digging for bones, and costume contests. Your dog can also get a free 10 minute massage. There will be prizes, samples, and pets available for adoption if you’re thinking of adding just one more to your family. New Rochelle Humane Society Dog Wash 2011 is scheduled for July 17 from 10am to 3pm. Is your dog getting grimy from running around and rolling in the grass? Want to have her clean without all the fur in your tub? Take her down to the Humane Society and have her washed by volunteers. It costs $20 to $40 depending on the size of your dog. The money raised benefits the New Rochelle Humane Society. Aside from having your dog cleaned, you can also get her nails trimmed, buy some new toys, and get yourself some food. There’s going to be a few vendors and booths and demos by police dogs. If it rains, the event is going to be rescheduled for July 24. 11th Annual Dove Lewis Golf Tournament is July 22 at Langdon Farms. It’s going to be an early day if you participate in the golf tournament. Registration starts at 6:45am and the game starts at 7:45 and ends around 2pm. Individual registration is $150 and $500 for a team of 4 players. There will be breakfast and lunch during the tournament and contests, raffles, and fun. Your pup can’t come but the money raised benefits Dove Lewis Emergency Hospital. Take The Plunge! is an event being held in Goucester, On during the weekend of July 22-24. It benefits several local pet rescue organizations and admission is $5. It’s a 3-day outdoor festival where you will get to watch dogs dock dive, see agility demos, and browse and shop at local vendors, bid on silent auctions, and play some games. If you want to enter your dog into the dock diving competition it is $20 in advance or $25 the day of the competition.
