There’s a lot of great family activities for October happening across the states. If you are looking for something to do with your four-legged and two-legged family members, check out one of these events if you’re nearby.
Barktoberfest is on Oct 8, 2011 from 1pm to 5pm at Chips Restaurant located at 2502 S.E. Tones Drive in Ankeny, IA. It’s free for people and only $5 to bring your pup. It’s the largest dog party of the year with food, music, and agility demonstrations. All money raised benefits keeping the Ankeny Dog Park in great shape for your pup to run, play, and make new friends.

2nd Annual Wood’n and Hoof’n Fall Festival in Huntersville, NC is on Oct, 8, 2011 from 9am to 5pm at Latta Equestrian Center/Latta Plantation Park located at 6201 Sample Rd. Bring your family, bring your pup, and if you love to ride horses, then sign up and do a sunset ride! Admission is free unless you want to go on a horse back ride, otherwise, come check out and meet the rescue groups in the area, enter some contests with your pup, and watch the canine and equine demonstrations.

Woofstock 2011 is on Oct 9 in Tenafly, NJ at Municipal Park at Tenafly Road and Washington St. It starts at 11am and goes on till 4pm. Admission is free but any money donated benefits Pet ResQ. It promises to be one of the coolest events of this year with music, contests like best costume, and training demos. There will be over 50 exhibits, face painting for the kids, and food.
