US Airways

US Airways is a major U.S. airline based in the U.S. city of Tempe, Arizona. A member of the Star Alliance Network, the airline utilizes a fleet of 339 mainline jet aircraft and 285 regional jet and turbo-prop aircraft connecting 195 destinations in North America, South America, Europe and the Middle East.

US Airways Pet Policy

The rules for pet transportation vary depending on your country and destination. On some air-crafts and certain destinations, pets my be restricted or limited. When booking your flights, indicate whether or not you plan to travel with your pet to find out whether pets are allowed and if they can travel in the cabin. Carry-on pets are not allowed on flights to and from Europe, South America, the Middle East, Antigua, Bridgetown Barbados, Montego Bay, Jamaica or St. Lucia.

Transport Rules

  • Your pet must travel in a container that is ventilated
  • During the flight your pet cannot be taken out of its carrier
  • Your pet’s travel container is considered a carry-on baggage item and will incur a fee of $125
  • Domestic dogs, cats, and birds are the only pets allowed to travel in the cabin

      You must register your pet in advance of your flight by contacting US Airways Customer Service

      Pets in the Cabin: US Airways Policy

      With prior approval from booking your tickets, you may transport in the cabin:

      • Dogs and cats must be older than 15 weeks and have proof of required vaccinations to travel
      • 1 small domestic pet is allowed per passenger
      • Guide dogs are allowed regardless of their weight and size
      • Hard-Sided: 19in/23cm (height), 15.5in/40cm (width), 21.5in/55cm (length)
      • Soft-Sided: 10.5in/27cm (height), 15.5in/40cm (width), 21.5in/55cm (length)
      • Only dogs and cats are allowed to/from Costa Rica
      • Hawaii is a rabies free state and only allows service/guide dogs to fly with passengers

      US Airways does not accept any animals in cargo compartments.
