Fall is here! October is full of pet-friendly events that will be fun, educational, and still taken advantage of the great cool weather. The days are getting shorter but it doesn’t mean the fun stops for you and your pets!
Check out some of the events listed below and if you’re not near these, check with your local humane society and newspaper for local pet events.
» With so many pet events across the country, this list can’t be quite comprehensive – at least not without your help. Is your pet event, or one in your area, missing from our list? Please help us update this list to keep it current by leaving the information in a comment below!

Or just stay for the fun and music. It promises to be a great day.
5K9 Walk Run Seattle
The 5K course is open to everyone with or without their furry friends. The start and finish lines are near the sports field next to Sportsfield Dr. The 1 mile walk is shorter but also passes through some of the beautiful parts of Magnuson Park. The money raised will help the Petco Foundation which helps find homeless pets a new forever home.

There will games and fun for the kids too.

You’ll work hands on with animals during the classes and if you sign up for the whole weekend, you’ll get a certificate of passing Level 1.
The Power of Positive Training with Victoria Stilwell
Sorry gang, you’ll have to leave your dogs home for this 2 day long event. It’s a seminar with Victoria Stilwell, who you may know from Animal Planet’s “It’s Me or the Dog.” She will be giving insight to her core philosophy of dog training and working through behavior habits that are driving you mad. You’ll learn how to better understand your dog, be a more conscious and positive owner, and create a calmer household. Definitely worth going to!
Pooch Parade Canine Carnival and Costume Contest
An event for pet lovers that includes contests, vendors, a beer garden, and much more! Bring your pooch and check out the free samples of dog treats and food, watch the Halloween pup parade (or enter it), and see who wins the contest for best costume!
Dogtoberfest for Handi-dogs
This event sounds like something no one should miss. There are going to be a ton of things to do with your dog. Dog painting, obstacles, hide and seek, and a race just to list a few things that dogs can do at Dogtoberfest. Enter your pup in the costume contest, best trick contest, and more. Plus you can listen to music, eat some good food, and help the Handi-dogs, a local organization that trains service and therapy dogs.
