If you’re visiting or live in Pennsylvania there are a few pet events happening during the month of August that promise to be fun and support animals needing forever homes. Your pet is welcome to the events listed and you can have a family day out and come home with a tired, happy pup.

Bark at Nay Aug Park Picnic in the Park is scheduled for July 31, 2011 from 12pm to 5pm at Nay Aug Park in Scranton Pa. The event will raise awareness and money for the Griffin Ponds Animal Shelter and American Red Cross of Lackawanna County. You can donate blood, have your dog microchipped if you haven’t already, listen to music, dance, and have a fantastic day in the park. There will be games, food, vendors, art, and kid and pet events for you and your family. Nay Aug Park is located at Olive St and Arthur Ave. For more info please contact: [email protected].

Beagles and Bagels is an adoption event being held by Animal Friends at 562 Camp Horne Road in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 8, 2011 from 11am to 3pm. Are you thinking of getting a dog? Adding another furry friend to your family? Come to this event and have some coffee, bagels, and meet some of the dogs available for adoption. All their dogs are thoroughly examined, are up-to-date with vaccines, are spayed or neutered, and microchipped. For more information visit their website.

Pup Night at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 16, 2011 at 7pm will be exciting. It’s the one night you can bring your dog with you to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates play. Your dog must be friendly and well-behaved as the park will be crowded and there will be lots of other dogs and people. Deck seating is reserved for pet owners and you should buy tickets now! There will be activities for you to participate in before and during the game. A portion of the money raised from this event will benefit Animal Friends who will also be showcasing some adoptable animals at the game. For more information and to buy tickets, visit the Pirates website. And if you can’t make the game in August with your pup, there’s another one in September.

Love that Nemacolin is such a pet-friendly hotel in Pennsylvania. Sometimes we have trouble finding places to take our dog and we really appreciate that they encourage it.
