September can be a busy month for families as children go back to school, teachers say goodbye to their summer vacations, and our pets adjust to the schedule changes that Fall brings about. It’s an important month to stay mindful about our pet’s well-being. They can experience “back to school blues” and may mope more.

Pet Events in the USA – September 2014
The community pool is closing for the summer season and allowing one day where dogs can swim, splash, and play in the water. Bring your pup and spend an evening having fun. There will be a free dog wash and raffle as well! What a great way to end the summer with your furry buddy.
Over 300 dogs, cats, and rabbits will be available for adoption. If you’re looking for a new best friend, come down to the adoptapalooza and meet all the great animals who are being cared by the many rescue groups in NYC. There will also be raffles, demonstrations, and vendors on hand.
Strut Your Mutt
It’s the 12th annual Strut Your Mutt Canine Festival. Bring your dog and participate in the games, contests, and raffles. There will be vendors selling some of the latest and greatest pet products as well as food, music, and family fun. Don’t forget to enter the 5K walk/run.
Puppy Mill Awareness “Walk With the Pack”
Line up begins at 11am and the walk starts at 12pm. Register to walk and show your support to end puppy mills. People Against Commercial Kennels is hosting the event and strives to raise awareness about bad breeding, the conditions that some animals are forced to live in, and fights to end puppy mills and puppy farms. Walk with them, bring your best buddy, and meet other pet lovers who also want to end puppy mills.
Bark in the Park
Come to the 18th annual Bark in the Park! The day is full of events such as a costume contest, a pet-look-alike contest, and a tail wagging contest. Demonstrations, vendors, great food, trainers, animal groups, and
kids’ corner will also be on hand. Bring your dog! Bring your family! Get ready for fun.
Barkfest Dog Festival
Near Ontario? Go to Barkfest! It’s on a 100 acres in the country and you and your pup can run, play, and enter the contests. There will be vendors, dog rescue organizations, and fundraisers for you to shop, volunteer, and donate towards. For you there will be a bbq pit, home gardening groups that will offer tips, and farmers selling organic grown food.
