There are many interesting bird events and classes the next two weekends, in different parts of the country. There are many places to buy new birds, and also many helpful educational opportunities.

This class will take place from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM, and experts will explain the connection parrots have to their toys, the difference between different toys, figuring out your parrot’s play style and toy safety. They will provide instructions on how to make your own parrot toys, make a few there, and have a Show and Tell at the end so people can show their handmade toys.

This event will go on from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM, and costs $3 for admission. It will go on in the Hobbies, Arts and Crafts Building of the Fair Park. Vendors will be there selling cages, feed and toys, and there will also be a variety of birds on display, such as Macaws and parakeets.

This bird show will take place from 9:00 AM-6:00 PM, and there will be many different birds on display, including Blue Front Amazons, Green Cheek Conures, Yellow Nape Amazons and Congo African Greys. There will also be many cages, toys and feed on sale for discounted prices.

The Connecticut Parrot Society, Inc, will be holding this event from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM. It is free for members of the Society and children under 10, and $5 for everyone else. There will be scheduled guest speakers, veterinary booths who will answer questions, avian behaviorists, animal psychics, birds of prey, parrots, vendor booths and a raffle.

These two seminars are required if you are adopting a bird from PEAC, but those who just want to learn are also invited to attend. You are required to register in advance by the Wednesday before the seminars. For non-members, it costs $10 in advance, or $15 at the door. Check-in for the seminars begins at 12:30 PM; the first seminar begins at 1:00 PM, and the second at 2: 15 PM.


I would love to attend one, if there ever is one in Fort Myers or Naples Florida.
