Though October is coming to its close, there are still many great bird events to attend. They are all around the country, and feature contests, raffles, breeders, birds for sale and bird supplies for sale.

Basic Care by PEAC

Robert Morris University: Patrick Henry Center (Hopwood Hall)

PEAC is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to educating bird owners. They are holding a basic care educational seminar, which is great if you are a new bird owner. You should register in advance.

Illinois Bird Fancier’s Bird Club

Church of the Little Flower

Springfield, Illinois

October 24

This bird fair will feature many different types of birds for sale. It will also have cages, toys, food and other activities. It will occur from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM, and is $3 for adults, free for children.

Exotic Bird Fair Expo

This Exotic Bird Show will feature vendors that sell cages, bird toys, feeds, hand raised birds, breeding birds, brooder boxes, food cups and other assorted bird supplies.


Exotic Bird Society of America’s Exotic Bird Expo

This event describes itself as the largest bird mall in America. They will have birds and bird related items on sale, and several seminars. It is $4 for members, $5 for members, and free for children under 10.

Chester County Bird Club’s Exotic Bird Show and Mart

Have no plans for Halloween? Why not head to this great bird show! They will have birds like Love Birds, Parrots, Finches, Zebra and Society Finches and Cockatiels. It is $6 admittance, and will go on from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM. Breeders will be available to answer any questions about specific breeds of birds. There will also be a bunch of vendors with cages, food, toys, breeding supplies, perches, artwork and clothes. There will also be a raffle and free Halloween candy for children!

Central California Cage Bird Club’s 56th Annual Canary and Finch Show and Bird Mart

Sportsmen of Stanislaus Club

Modesto, California

This show will feature judgings of American Singers, Finches/Softbills, Colorbred Canaries, Type Canaries and Kitchen Canaries. There will also be food, a bird mart and a raffle and auction. It will occur from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

    Finally, something about birds!!! Usually it’s just DOGS DOGS, DOGS!!!

    How about a few more ideas on places to go with ones birds? I can understand why businesses would be cautious about having dogs around, but birds should be welcome in many places that do not allow dogs.
