Those who are having fun in the sun in California this summer should take a look at the many different pet-related events that are going on all over the state. There is anything from huge murals being unveiled to charity tennis tournaments to dog-friendly train rides!
Animal Celebration 2010
Fort Bragg, California
This year’s Animal Celebration will take place from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM. It will be filled with all sorts of activities, such as chances to get your dog massaged or get your dog vaccinated. You can also have photographs taken with your pets! Lots of local resources, rescue groups and even an animal communicator will be there. This event will also have food, fun animals and a raffle with lovely prizes, such as resort and casino gift certificates.
Rails & Tails
Santa Cruz, California
Rails & Tails will be a chance to ride the train with your dog. It will be a 3-hour journey from the Boardwalk to the redwoods at Roaring Camp. There will also be a short hike in Henry Cowell.
The train ride costs $22 for adults if you buy a ticket before July 7, $22.50 if you buy a ticket after, and $16 for children 12 and under. This adventure will happen from noon-3:00 PM.
Veterinary Specialty Hospital
San Diego, California
The FACE foundation will hold a fundraiser for pets when they will unveil the 65-foot mural at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital. Those who want to check out this mural should show up at 1:00 PM, and things should wrap up by 3:00. After the unvieling, they will have a mix and mingle section, and an educational seminar.

AIDS Walk with Team PAWS
Golden Gate Park
San Francisco, California
Humans and dogs are welcome to join the AIDS Walk with Team PAWS. This activity should go on from 9:00 AM-2:30 PM. The pledge money will go to support PAWS, which is a group of volunteers that provides the needs for pets for low-income people who have AIDS, and for senior citizens.
Tennis Tournament for Dog Rescue

Studio City, California
This Tennis Tournament will be a charity for Ken Mar Rescue for Dogs. Check-in is at 4:30 PM, and the match will then go on from 5:00-8:00. There will be doubles tournaments, raffle prizes, food and refreshments. This sports event costs $50 per player.
