Upcoming Pet Events in New York and New Jersey

This summer will hold a bunch of great cat and dog events around New York and New Jersey, ranging from adoption events to Pit Bull shows to dog washes to free coffee in the park!

Dog Wash 2010

New Rochelle Humane Society

New Rochelle, New York

July 18

This dog wash will go on 10:00 AM-3:30 PM at the New Rochelle Humane Society. The washes are first come, first served, and will be $20-40, depending on the dog. They are also selling nail clippings, microchips, family portraits and conducting Canine Good Citizen Tests. There will also be agility activities, a trainer booth, a mobile vet squad, food, vendors, face painting, demonstrations and other fun activities.

Posh Pets Rescue Van

TD Bank

New York, New York

The Posh Pets Rescue Van will be parked at TD Bank on 74th Street and Broadway in Manhattan from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM. There will be several adoptable cats, kittens, dogs and puppies.

Kitten Bonanza

City Hall Plaza

Jersey City, New Jersey

July 25

The Kitten Bonanza will be a kitten adoption festival from 11:00 AM-4:00 PM. People can pay to adopt kittens who are fixed, vaccinated, socialized and treated for any bugs or worms.

Ultimate Bully ABKC Show

Doggie “U” Canine Academy

Bay Shore, New York

August 8

The Ultimate Bully Show will be an ABKC-sanctioned dog show and fun match. Registration for this event will begin at 8:00 AM, and the show will start at 11:00 AM. There will be some standard competitions, along with fun show competitions like biggest head, best chest, most extreme and other such categories. It will cost $20 for human admission and free for children under 12; for dogs, it is $20 for standard classes per show per dog and $10 per dog per fun show. This will be an indoor show.

Coffee Bark

Prospect Park

Brooklyn, New York

Early-rising Brooklynites should take advantage of Coffee Bark with their dogs. It will take place from 7:00-9:00 AM, in the Long Meadow beside the Picnic House in Prospect Park. There will be coffee, pastries and dog biscuits for free!

Bark for Life

Ellison Park

Rochester, New York

August 28

Bark for Life will be the first annual event for Rochester, which will go down from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. It will be a one-mile walk to raise money for the American Cancer Society. It costs $20 if you register in advance, and $25 to register the day of the event.
