Family Dogs Fun Walk

This no-kill dog shelter is hosting a fundraising walk this Saturday. It is a 2 mile walk that will begin at the shelter, and then go along the Springwater Corridor. Registration starts at 8:00 AM, and then the walk starts at 9:00 AM. Those who participate are encouraged to collect pledges; those without pledges will require a $25 entry fee.
Becoming a Therapy Team

The PAAWS organization will be holding a free informational session for people interested in becoming part of a therapy animal team. They will cover the training steps to get registered, costs, visiting programs and overall benefits. There will be Pet Partner Team representatives there to answer questions. It will take place from 6:30 PM-8:00 PM; humans only.
Pet Loss Support Group

Dove Lewis holds Portland’s only session for pet loss support. It is an open space for those who want to discuss their stories and talk about their loss. It is free of charge, and drop-ins are welcome. This session will go on from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM. Those who attend should bring along a photograph of their pet.
March for Mutts

This is a fundraiser event for AniMeals, which is an organization that helps feed pets of homebound seniors. The March for Mutts is a family event that will take place from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM, and there is a $5 suggested donation. It will feature food, demonstrations and vet booths. There will also be dog contests for things like cutest puppy, best costume and agility.
Energy Healing for Animals

There will be a workshop at the library from 2:00 PM-4:00 PM to teach pet owners how to connect to their pets’ health and well being. This particular practice is sometimes considered “acupuncture without needles.” The techniques are easy to learn and these skills can apply to all sorts of animals. It will teach how to treat things like cuts, scrapes and bug bites.
