If you travel or live to shop, and your dog does as well, be aware that there are some options where you can bring your dog along. The Western side United States has some of the best malls in the country, and you don’t have to leave your dog cooped up at home or in the hotel.

Otay Ranch Town Center

Chula Visa

This mall welcomes pets inside and out. There is a fenced, 10,000 square foot dog area next to Macy’s in the outdoor part.

Fashion Island

Newport Beach

Some of the stores allow your dog inside this upscale mall, so long as it is well-behaved.

Prime Outlets

Pismo Beach

This is the Central Coast’s “premier outlet shopping destination.” Brand names have great deals. It is a good place if you are doing a trip from LA to San Francisco (or vice versa), as it is right in the middle, and your dog can enjoy the break too.

Westfield Century City Shopping Center

Los Angeles

Nice mall located in the pristine beach neighborhood of Santa Monica. Many of the stores that don’t serve food will allow your dog in.

Simi Valley Town Center

Simi Valley

This mall has a farmers market, and is pet-friendly. It is located Northwest of Los Angeles.

The Promendade Shops at Briargate

Colorado Springs

This open-air mall not only has great shopping and restaurants, but also offers spectacular nature views of the surrounding area. They describe themselves as a Pet-Friendly destination, and the stores that allow your dog have a “Pets Welcome” sign. Some stores even provide bowls for your dog to drink water while you shop.

This mall is so dog-friendly, that is it even offering a Mini Dog Fair on July 30! If you are traveling or live in the area, they will have vendors from the Humane Society, Petworth, Rainbow Hearts, Rocky Mountain Blood Services, Sit Means Sit and Sunrise Kennels.

The Promendade Shops at Centerra

This is a dog-friendly mall in Northern Colorado. Dogs are allowed in the common areas, and in stores that have stickers. Many stores provide snacks and water bowls, and there are many designated pet-resting areas throughout the grounds.

New Mexico

The Shops at Sanbusco

Santa Fe

This dog-friendly mall is located in the Historic Railyard District. There is Teca Tu, where you can buy your cat or dog fresh-baked treats and handpainted bowls! There are also of course many unique craft stores for humans.
