Just click on the state (below) that you'll be traveling in (we'll be adding many more states in the next month). After it's on your computer, unzip it. You will then need a POI Loader or equivalent program. The POI Loader is software available free
from the maker of your GPS. Sometimes it comes with your GPS or can be downloaded from the web. It allows you to load Custom POIs (Points of Interest) onto your GPS. (In this case the POIs will be our pet-friendly hotels). You then just hook-up
the GPS to your computer (usually by USB cable), open the POI Loader software and you'll be able to add our pet-friendly hotels to your GPS. We give you hotel names, addresses, phone numbers and--most
importantly--pet policies so you can find the perfect place for you and your pet. Sound complicated? Not at all. The following
is information regarding the POI Loaders for the major GPS manufacturers:
Garmin: Download the Garmin POI Loader
Magellan: Newer Magellan models come with software (Magellan POI File Editor) that lets you convert POI files to Magellan format. Then use Magellan RoadMate Tools to transfer
the files from you computer to your GPS.
Others: For other manufacturers like TomTom and Mio, please check your manuals to find out how to load Custom POIs.
We also highly recommend visiting POI-Factory.com. It is a great resource that specializes in Custom POIs and is full of information, including instructions on
downloading and loading POIs. And finally we'd like to thank Mike Ryan for his hard work and enthusiasm.
