OK. We've got a WINNER!. And it is:

SATCHEL, submitted by William Early on April 3rd at 7:52 pm. We had a few other Satchel's submitted (a total of 5), but Mr. Early was the first. We loved the name because:

a. he just looks like a "Satchel" somehow
b. he sits next to a satchel (which he always takes with him)
c. we can nickname him "Satchmo" and play Louis Armstrong records all day at the office and feel that there's a corporate justification for it.

We thank everybody who entered and apologize it took so long to come up with the winner. We got an OVERWHELMING response & we wanted to make sure we went through every entry. A lot of you took a lot of time and gave great reasons for your entries. Many were sentimental and touching and based on pets you love and/or those that had passed away. We read every entry. Other were extremely clever and funny. Some extremely bizarre--and we loved them all. We also received a language and culture lesson. For example:

Pulgosi means "bag of fleas" in Spanish
Failte is Gailic for Welcome
Moksha means liberation in Hindi
Pengyo means friend in Chinese
Tejas means friendship in a Native American Indian language
Loki was the Norse god of mischief and curiosity.
Garm was a Greek god dog
Tsigane means "nomad people"
Toba is a greeting named after the American Indian tribe of the same name.
And so on...

Once again, thanks to everybody that entered and check back for more contests to come.
