Pet Friendly Florida Panhandle Beaches

When it comes to finding shoreline to romp on with your pet in the Panhandle, local beaches are the way to go. Florida state park regulations prohibit pets from being on their beaches. Also, the Gulf Islands National Seashore does not permit pets on the beach in the Florida section of the park. (In the Mississippi portion, pets are not permitted on the federally designated wilderness islands, Horn or Petit Bois islands, or the designated swim beach on West Ship Island. Otherwise, throughout the park your pet is permitted on a 6-foot leash on the trails, paths, and park roads.)

You and your pet (on leash) are welcome to walk the snow white sands of this dog-friendly beach in the western section of the city-owned beach at Dan Russell Pier. Dogs under 4 months are not permitted and only 2 dogs per person.

Carrabelle Beach

Pets are permitted on the beach in this small fishing village in the eastern Panhandle if they are on leash or under voice control.

Dog Island
Located off the northwestern panhandle of Florida and accessible only by boat, Dog Island is the easternmost of a 4-island barrier chain. Pets are permitted on the public beaches if they are on leash or under voice control. Pets are not permitted on the beaches owned by the Nature Conservancy.

Port St. Joe Area Beaches
Pets on leash are permitted on the beaches of Port St. Joe, except within the St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. The county has installed pet waste disposal sites along its beach access points for public use. These beaches include:
