If you’re in New York City and want to learn more about dogs and cats, head down to the Jacob Javitz Center on Oct 16 and 17 and see the largest showcase of dog breeds and cat breeds. It’s a huge event packed with demonstrations by K-9 police, agility dogs, and ‘pawfessional’ actors used in tv and movies. Last year I volunteered at the event for the National Shiba Inu club and I guarantee you’ll be amazed at all the animals you meet.
There will be 160 different dog breeds and 40 cat breeds for you to meet and experts on hand to answer any questions you have about them. It’s a great opportunity to learn about what breed might fit well into your family or see some amazing animals. I met wolfhounds, mastiffs, and many other breeds of dogs as well as some beautiful cats that I’d never seen in person.
There will be activities such as a feline fashion show on Saturday, demonstrations by seeing eye dogs, flyball, cat agility, dog agility, and contest for you to enter. It’s only $15.00 and you’ll be surrounded by pet lovers and vendors selling everything imaginable for pets. It’s a great family event and an opportunity to dive deeper into knowing about the breeds of dogs and cats, their history, and their personality as well as keys to being a responsible pet owner. Head on down if you’re in town and be prepared to be overwhelmed by lots of wagging tails and purrs by these amazing animals.
