More Pet Events For April

The rest of the month is jam-packed with pet events across the U.S. and dogs couldn’t be happier. It means a day out making new friends, learning new tricks, and getting lots of snacks and attention. Here’s a few events that look super fun and cool:

For the Love of Dogs
When: April 28, 2012 10am to 4pm
Where: 1369 4th Ave, Auburn Ga
Admission: Free but donations are appreciated
Benefits: Rescue groups

This is the 3rd annual For the Love of Dogs event in Ga. Come on down and you’ll see agility demonstrations, carting and herding dogs showing off, search and rescue talks and demonstrations, and rally work. You and your best friend can participate in some of the events as well, such as tracking, nose work, and frisbee catching. There will also be free obedience lessons for everyone. Aside from demonstrations and activities for you and your dog to do, shop the vendors and check out some of the newest toys and accessories for pets, talk to the trainers about best methods for training and caring for your pup, and if you’re curious, look at the rescue groups that have pets looking for forever homes.

Mutt Strut
When: April 28, 2012 9am to 3pm
Where: 4790 West 16th St, Indianapolis IN
Admission: $20 to $40 depending on time of registration
Benefitting: Humane Society of Indianapolis

Mutt Strut is a great event that boasts over 7,000 humans and 5,000 dogs in attendance in the past two years. It’s a large fundraising event for the Humane Society of Indianapolis and is a nice opportunity for pets and owners to walk the 2.5 mile world famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The schedule for the event includes search and rescue demonstrations, a pet fashion show, K-9 officer demonstrations, and music, food, and pet portraits. Indy car driver Sarah Fisher will be there as well as Graham Rahal who is the youngest race car winner in Indycar history.

2nd Annual South Austin Pitch and Pooch Family Golf Outing and Canine Extravaganza
When: April 28, 2012 12pm to 8pm
Where: Butler Park Pitch and Putt 201 Lee Barton Drive, Austin TX
Admission: Free but donations are appreciated
Benefitting: Dream Come True Foundation

There will be music, food, golf games (registration required), and contests. Sign up and dress up with your pup for the costume contest and pet parade. The theme is Jimmy Buffet, so get your best tropical attire together and strut your stuff. Donations and money raised from the silent auction benefit the Dream Come True Foundation. The foundation is a non-profit organization that finds people who are on the edge of success and helps move them from poverty to a life of possibilities with mentoring programs and support.
