New York Animal Week: This Weekend

This is the first annual Animal Week of New York State. It is presented by Animal World USA, and shelters, rescue groups and humane organizations are hosting things around NYC, as well as all around the state. Though it started on the 10th, there are many fun pet and family activities still going on this weekend. It is sponsored by NY governor David Patterson and over 100 different animal organizations.

15th Annual Theme Basket Auction

The SPCA of Allegany County is a no-kill shelter, and they will be hosting their annual auction from  5-9 PM on Friday and 8 AM-12:30 PM on Saturday. This shelter receives no government funding, so such events are necessary to its upkeep. They usually have over 200 nice items in basket form.

Walk for Paws

This walk will take place on the Sidney Walking Trail, on River Street, in Sidney. You can bring your leashed dog to join you on this walk, so long as it is properly vaccinated. Fashion Show for Humans and Furry Friends

This is a benefit to help rescue the cats of Western NY, for the Ten Lives Club Cat Adoption and Rescue. Outfits are available, or bring your own. It costs $23, which includes a pasta dish, dessert and drinks. There will also be a silent auction and cats and dogs for adoption. This will take place from 12:30 PM-3:00 PM.
