Iams & Eukanuba – Voluntary Recall of Food

This past August, Proctor and Gamble did a voluntary recall of several brands of their dog and cat food due to them potentially being contaminated with Salmonella. The food was distributed across the US to various pet stores grocery stores. It’s estimated that they are about .1% of the total annual production of food created and sold.

Salmonella is a disease that is spread from raw or uncooked food like chicken and can cause major problems in adults and children. It can live for weeks outside of a body and be spread from something as simple as a shopping cart containing a package of chicken or a factory that processed raw foods and was not properly cleaned.

Pets that are infected with Salmonella may show signs of lethargy, have runny stool that may contain traces of blood, and vomit. Some pets may also not eat as much and overall seem to be in great discomfort. If your pet has consumed any of the brands listed below as well as the rest of the brands listed on the FDA website, please discard the food and contact the company and your vet immediately.
