Upcoming Bird Events and Expositions in January 2010

There’s no better way to bring in the new year for bird lovers than bird expos!

There are plenty of exciting activities all around the country with opportunities to buy exotic birds and discount supplies, or take advantage of educational events.

Birdland Bird Exposition

American Legion Hall

Tallahassee, Florida

January 2

The Birdland Bird Exposition will take place from 10:00-3:30. They will have an abundance of playful bird toys for sale, along with cages and other useful gear. Birdland will also present a raffle and silent auction, and there will be food and other entertainment. Admission is free, but they do welcome donations.

Rolling Meadows Bird Fair & Sale

Rolling Meadows Community Center

Rolling Meadows, Illinois

January 8

The Rolling Meadows Bird Fair & Sale will happen from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM, and is $4 for ages 9 and up to enter. Lots of different vendors will be stationed around the community center, selling anything from hand-fed baby birds to creative toys to play stands to embroidered cloths.

Exotic Bird Society of America Expo

Central Florida Fairgrounds

Orlando, Florida

January 16

The Exotic Bird Society of America will put together this expo with assorted seminars and bird trick shows. It will cost $5 for nonmembers, but if you join the society there, you get in for free. Children under 10 can also get in for free, if they are with an adult. Lots of birds and bird-related items will be on display and sale at this giant bird shopping mall.

Ohio Bird Fair

Columbus, Ohio

January 23

Theย Ohio Bird Fair will be stopping in Columbus on Sunday from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM. Admission to this event is $3, or free for those under 9. They will call a door prize at 4:00 PM, and a 50/50 drawing at 3:00 PM. This fair will present a selection of toys, cages, feeds, nesting boxes, avian diets, supplements and, of course, birds.

Parrot Festival

Doubletree Hotel

Houston, Texas

January 28-30

The Parrot Festival will be at the Doubletree Hotel of the Houston International Airport. This event will be hosted by the National Parrot Rescue & Preservation Foundation, a non-profit. This will be an educational fair where experts will present techniques on proper parrot training and ownership.
