A number of fun and beneficial pet-related events will be taking place in Oregon during August. People can purchase cat-created artwork, run for cats or attend a dog park fundraiser.
Canine Social Hour

The canine social hours will be split up into two sections. From 11:00 AM-12:00 PM, there will be a play session for dogs under 30 pounds; from 12:00-1:00 PM, there will be a session for big dogs. It costs $5 to attend, and dog owners get to enjoy coffee and treats while their dogs play.
Puppy Romp

The Puppy Romp is a weekly Sunday play session from 1:00-2:00 PM monitored by a dog trainer. It is for dogs between ten weeks and six months old. These sessions cost $8 for a single time, or $40 for a “six pack” discount.
Furs Thursday

Furs Thursday will be a display of cat-created artwork in the Pearl. People can stop by and see or buy the pieces, and adopt the cats that created them, between 5:00-8:00 PM.
Off-Leash Control
Oregon Humane Society, Manners Hall

The Off-Leash Control will be a four-week class that will go on each Friday from 1:00-1:50 PM. It costs $85 to enroll, and a certified dog trainer will instruct people on how to get dogs’ attention while outside, coming out of play mode and teaching some commands.

The Boot Scootin’ Bow Wow Fun Day will start at 9:00 AM, and will feature seminars, presentations, games and activities. They will have lunch from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM, and things will wrap up by 2:00 PM. Though there will be guide dogs on display, only humans are allowed to attend this event.
Dog Day Afternoon

August 7
The 8th Annual Dog Day Afternoon will go on from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM, and will be a fundraiser to support this dog park. Activities will include a raffle, vendors, Canine Good Citizen testing, flyball, dog dancing display and agility.

CATnip Friday 5k & Mouse Miler
Sherwood High School Track
Sherwood, Oregon
August 13
The CATnip Friday 5k & Mouse Miler will begin with registration at 5:00 PM; the 5k run will then start at 6:50, and the Mouse Miler one-mile street run will begin at 7:45. It will also feature vendors and a balloon artist, and is a family friendly event. Pledges will receive prizes if they collect over certain amounts of money.
