Upcoming Pet Events in Colorado

If you live in Colorado, or are heading there this spring, make sure to mark your calendar. There are several charity running/walking events, as well as some expos and fairs.

The Fast and the Furriest

Colorado State University Oval

Fort Collins, Colorado

April 17

This event will be a 5K/1K Run/Walk, which will benefit the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital’s Companion Care Club, as well as the Professional Veterinary Medicine Class of 2011. This morning celebration will also feature various entertainment, face painting, live music, give-aways, doggie demos and raffles. Admission is $22-25, and the event will go on from 7:30 AM-12:00 PM.

Bark for Life

Twin Rivers Park

Greeley, Colorado

April 24

This will be a “Relay For Life” canine event, where dogs and humans can run to cure cancer. It costs $30, and will go on at the park from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM.

Furry Scurry

Washington Park

Denver, Colorado

May 1

The Furry Scurry will be a two-mile walk for the animals to benefit the Dumb Friends League. It is an annual event that helps raise money and awareness for the homeless pets in the area. If you wish to register there, registration starts at 7:00 AM, and then the walk begins at 9:00 AM; it costs $50 to walk. There will also be several other things to do, as there will be refreshments, demonstrations, a flea market with pet products and services, and dog contests. Everything should wrap up around 12:00.

Ella’s Walk

Boulder County Fairgrounds

Longmont, Colorado

May 15

Ella’s Walk will be a family event to honor the life of Merideth Hope Emerson, as well as the bond between animals and humans. It will be a gentle 3 mile walk from the Boulder County Fairgrounds Picnic Center, through Rogers Grove, to the first Golden Pond, and back. After the walk, people can go to the fairgrounds and enjoy live music, demonstrations, brunch and pet-friendly merchandise. It is a free event that will go on from 8:30 AM-1:00 PM.

Botanic Bow Wow

Denver Botanic Gardens

Denver, Colorado

May 22

The gardens will host this event from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM; it will not actually be in the gardens but in the top level of the parking structure at York Street. It will cost $5 for adults and $3 for children (discounts for garden members). There will be pet-friendly vendors, information booths, dog contests and treat samples.

Paws on the Promenade

The Promenade Shops at Centerra

Loveland, Colorado

May 22

This is a free event at the Promenade that will take place from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM, to benefit the Larimer and Weld County Humane Societies. This will be the mall’s fifth annual dog exposition, and people and dogs are invited to come along. There will be a dog house building contest, Service Dog demonstrations, Yappy Hour, pet adoptions, vendors, dog contests and more.
