Upcoming Pet Events in Illinois

There are lots of interesting pet events going on this June in Illinois, especially around the Chicago area. There are a few dog parades, rescue group appearances and even dog happy hours!

LaGrange Pet Parade

June 5

This 64th annual pet parade will go on from 9:30-11:00 AM. It will include everything from pet marching to floats to clowns.

People are free to watch this parade, but those who want to participate should read the procedure. Those who participate can also enter the many pet contests. There will also be a raffle with some great prizes.

June 6

Pooch Park will be holding this free dog event from 11:00 AM-3:00 PM. It will feature 60’s music, food, treats, contests, communication seminars and other family fun.

Every Wednesday from 5:00-9:00 PM, Joe’s Sports Bar will let dogs accompany their owners on the outside patio. There will be water bowls and treats for dogs, and cheap drink specials for their adult owners. Every week will feature different vendors and organizations.

Oak Lawn Pet Parade

June 12

This event will be a lawn sale and new car show, but it will start off at 10:00 with a pet parade. People are encouraged to bring their families and dress up their pets to march off at 10:00 AM, from 99th and 54th Avenue.

Gimme Shelter! Walk for the Animals

Indian Boundary Park and Cultural Center

Chicago, Illinois

June 13

This will be the 10th annual Gimme Shelter! walk, which will go on from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. It will start off with a 3k walk, and then there will be brunch, a raffle, dog splash pools, entertainment and more. It costs $15 per person (or $5 per child 3-12), and adult participants will get a T-shirt, food and a dog bandanna. This event is meant to benefit the Red Door Animal Shelter.

Shorewood Cocker Rescue Visit

From 10:00 AM-2:00 PM, the Shorewood Cocker Rescue organization will visit the Happy Dog Barkery. People in the area who are interested in adopting a Cocker should certainly stop by!
