I have to say, San Diego is one of the most "dog-friendly" places I know of. There are several beaches, including Coronado, Del Mar and Ocean Beach where dogs can run free. My dog LOVES it!! There are also several parks throughout the city/county where dogs are allowed to run around leash-free. This gives our dogs some "quality time" with others of their species and gives the Mommy's and Daddy's some time to chat with others and get some good tips or exchange Vets names.
"Dog Beach" in Ocean Beach, California (part of San Diego). On this open stretch of beach the dogs are free to run with no leash or other restriction. The dogs are also welcome in the water. The beach is open all year. The local authorities only ask that pet owners come with plastic bags so that if the dogs poop then the owner can immediately clean it up. A truly terrific place for dogs and their owners.
