The highest point in Connecticut, Bear Mountain, not to be confused with New York State's Bear Mountain, is almost 2,316 feet above sea level. It's a good climb for dogs and owners. The return trip along "Paradise Lane Trail" is about 2 miles, but is tricky. If you take the "Undermountain Trail" that will cover a little over 6 miles. There is no admission fee.

You can choose from offerings like Grilled Pear and Arugula Salad, Salmon Fillet Wasabi, and a wide selection of burgers and sandwiches, including grilled portobello on ciabatta with caramelized onions and aioli. Or take advantage of their Breakfast All Day--we particularly like the Popover Breakfast Platter, served with scrambled eggs, Black Forest Ham or bacon, and preserves to slather on all those scrumptious popovers. Open Monday through Wednesday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday & Saturday 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Sunday brunch 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
