For Irish pub food, both classic and with a twist, you can’t go wrong with Anna Liffey’s. Jameson Whisky Pepper Steak, Bangers & Mash, Guinness Stew, Irish Smoked Salmon BLT, it’s all good. And you can enjoy it with your best friend at your table on their pet-friendly patio. Vegetarian? They’ve got you covered as well with selections like their Portobello Ciabatta and Classic Caesar Salad with artichokes and hearts of palm. And, of course, there is plenty of beer on tap.
A great place to grab a beer with friends and your pooch at one of the tables in the Regal Beagle’s pet-friendly seating area. Getting hungry? The menu offers lots of great choices for lunch, dinner, and late night munching, including hot sandwiches, Build-Your-Own Burger, pastas, and more. Open Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
There was no way we couldn’t include Shake Shack. First, the food is great and it’s fun to people watch from the pet-friendly tables outside. Second, it has a its own doggie menu offering your choice of a Pooch-ini (a cup of vanilla custard served with two dog biscuits and peanut butter sauce) or a Bag o’ Bones, five dog bones made from all natural ingredients from Bocce’s Bakery in New York City. Beer and wine are also sold. Open Sunday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 11 p.m.
Our favorite pet-friendly place for breakfast and lunch. Though smack in the center of the city, it has a quiet shaded outdoor seating area. Zoi’s offers specialty breakfast sandwiches like the Alexander the Great (western omelette with cheddar and bacon served on a roll) and the Sweet Pete (bacon, egg, cheese, and caramelized onion on pumpernickel toast). For lunch, there are lots of sandwiches and salads to choose from, including California Cobb Salad and House Roasted Beef Sandwich with Horseradish Sauce. Open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and closed on Sunday.
New London
Bluff Point is located along the Connecticut coastline. You can walk from the parking lot to Bluff Point along the Long Island Sound along a wide, level cart road. It's approximately 1.6 miles long. There is a beach along the way Bushy Point Beach but dogs are not permitted from mid-April through mid-September birds nesting . You will also find the Poquonnock River, and your pup can certainly swim there. There are also side trails on the way back to the parking lot that can take almost 4 miles, some of which run along railroad tracks.

Salisbury
The highest point in Connecticut, Bear Mountain, not to be confused with New York State's Bear Mountain, is almost 2,316 feet above sea level. It's a good climb for dogs and owners. The return trip along "Paradise Lane Trail" is about 2 miles, but is tricky. If you take the "Undermountain Trail" that will cover a little over 6 miles. There is no admission fee.
You and your pooch can relax together on the lovely patio of this restaurant located in Connecticut's Litchfield Hills. You can choose from offerings like Grilled Pear and Arugula Salad, Salmon Fillet Wasabi, and a wide selection of burgers and sandwiches, including grilled portobello on ciabatta with caramelized onions and aioli. Or take advantage of their Breakfast All Day--we particularly like the Popover Breakfast Platter, served with scrambled eggs, Black Forest Ham or bacon, and preserves to slather on all those scrumptious popovers. Open Monday through Wednesday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday & Saturday 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Sunday brunch 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
