It is in fact, just a friendly neighborhood hardware store with pet-friendly folks! The only "pet-friendly amenities" are dog treats for canine customers! While I do patronize the store for most of my hardware needs, my dog and I stop in whenever we're in the neighborhood just to say "hi" (and for the treats!).
Bob's Java Hut is open Monday through Thursday from 6am to 11pm, Friday from 6am to midnight, Saturday 7am to midnight and Sunday 7am to 11pm. 365 days a year. Calm dogs are welcome at the outside seating.

Minnehaha Cafe-very good food and they allow dogs out side on the patio. The owner has a dog who is often there sitting outside he has a black lab I believe. I just tie my dog to one of the tables or a bench while I can enjoy lunch or coffee-plus Minnehaha dog park is very close great place to take your dog!
A very cool locally-owned used-bookstore attached to a very cool locally-owned coffee shop. It is in the Linden Hills neighborhood of Minneapolis...a quaint (?) and quirky area with a food co-op, bakery, hardware store, kids' toy store, kids' book store, butcher shop...etc. (Sounds pretty cool, huh?)
