Located in a renovated firehouse, Ladder 133 has a wonderful pet-friendly deck where you and your pooch are always welcome. Plenty of beers and wine to choose from or try one of the house cocktails, like Black Smoke, made with Johnny Black and ginger beer. Food menu is pub eclectic with sandwiches, burgers, salads, and little plates and noshes like Soft Truffle Pretzels and Bang Bang Shrimp. Open Sunday through Thursday 11:30 to 1 a.m., Friday & Saturday 11:30 to 2 a.m.
Ray Brook
Enjoy their barbecue, burgers, lobster clam bake, and more alongside your pooch in their tented outdoor seating area.
Red Hook
Authentic Italian cuisine, locally sourced with organic ingredients. The menu is always changing but some favorites are Bruschetta of Pan-Seared Chicken Livers with Sage and Aged Balsamico, Quail Saltimbocca with Saffron Risotto Milanese, and Hanger Steak with Cannellini Beans, Spicy Broccoli Rabe, and Salsa Verde. You and your pup are welcome at the outdoor tables on their pet-friendly front porch.
A fabulous bistro menu with sidewalk tables that are pet friendly. Favorites: Steak Tartare, Caramelized Sea Scallops and PEI Mussel with Spaghetti Squash, Toasted Sage Butter Gnocchi, and the Duck Burger with Fried Cracklins'. Mmm, mmm!
Rhinebeck
One of the nicest dining spaces in Rhinebeck. If you can snag an outdoor table, either under one of the umbrellas or the small porch area, you can your pooch can dine together. They have a wonderful bistro menu but our favorite offering, hands down, is the Make Your Own Topping Sandwich, constructed from duck confit, smoked onions, and wasabi aioli on a baguette. Plus they serve killer fries.
You and your pup are welcome at any of the outdoor tables, in the front where you can people watch or on the quieter back patio. Enjoy classic bbq offerings or try some of the house creations, like Piggy Mac (mac n cheese with your choice of pulled pork or smoked bacon added), Volcano Potatoes (potato skins filled with pulled pork, pulled chicken, cheddar cheese, and bacon), or the Cowboy Burger (a beef burger topped with a slice of smoked brisket and melted cheese). All the meat is locally sourced and smoked on site. Wash is all down with your choice of craft beer or one of their 30 bourbons.
There is limited outdoor seating, but if you can grab a table, your pooch is welcome to accompany you. It's a sweet little porch and a great place to people watch. A wonderful menu. Some of our favorites: Chicken Larb, Mee Krob, Som Tum Salad, and their soft-shell crab when in season.
You and your canine are welcome at the outdoor tables on the front porch of this establishment. Honestly, it's one of our very favorite places to eat outside--it feels like your own front porch, that is, if you have a porch. The menu is fantastic and oftentimes we don't get beyond the appetizers--they are that good and they are also pretty substantial. Some of our favorites: Crispy Artichoke Hearts with Lemon & Caper Aioli, Cornmeal-Crusted Oyster with Thyme Remoulade, Grandma's Pierogies, and their duck liver pate is pretty much to die for.
Riverhead
This super pet-friendly vineyard will let you and your pooch hang together for a tasting at one of their outdoor tables. But if you want a real adventure, sign up for one of their periodic Vines and Canines vineyard walks, basically an educational walking tour of the vineyard and grounds.
Rochester
Enjoy their wonderful menu with your pup on their pet-friendly patio.
Romulus
Knapp Winery Tasting Room is open year round. Located steps away from the tasting room, Knapp Vineyard Restaurant (open from April through November) is known for its eclectic, casual, gourmet meals featuring local ingredients from area farms, including herbs and vegetables from Knapp's own garden. Dogs are welcome in the tasting room and on the restaurant's pet-friendly vine-covered patio.
Rosendale
Voted Best Vegetarian Restaurant by Chronogram Magazine, Rosedale Cafe is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering brunch all day as well as lunch and dinner selections that include Tempeh Reuben, Mushroom Tofu Stroganoff, Sweet Potato Burrito, and Kale Quinoa Salad. Get one of their pet-friendly tables outside and you can enjoy it all with Fido.
Wonderfully eclectic fare, from Deviled Eggs of the Day and Scallion Pancake to burgers and Bahn Mi to Mussels and Frites and Bi Bim Bop. Local craft beers and ciders are always available. Sit at one of the pet-friendly tables outside; servers will be happy to bring your pooch a bowl of water.
Saranac Lake
A wonderful French bistro menu covering breakfast, lunch, and dinner that includes all sorts of crepes (savory and sweet). Enjoy it with your pup on their outside deck overlooking the Saranac River.
Saratoga Springs
Coffee shop and bar, named after the owner's dog Bailey. Dogs are welcome on the patio. Bailey's Saratoga offers a delicious seasonal menu served by a phenomenal staff.
Dogs welcome on the patio of this Spanish tapas restaurant. You can choose from classic small plates or heartier fare like paella, steak, or Fisherman's Soup.
Great pet-friendly outdoor patio where you can enjoy Dairy Haus's homemade hard and soft ice creams. Open seasonally.
It is all about the 'que here. You can get it Memphis, Kansas, North Carolina, Virginia, Pacific Northwest, or Texas style, whether you'r talking ribs, brisket, chicken, pulled pork, salmon, or chicken. It's all good. The smells here are going to make your canine crazy. Enjoy it at a table on their pet-friendly patio.
Dogs are allowed on the patio of this lakeside restaurant. It's got wonderful sandwiches, tacos, burgers, salads, and pub fare with a twist, like the Swordfish BLT, Watermelon Salad, Hand-Chopped Ahi Burger, and Fish Tacos.
Dog are welcome on the patio of this Mexican restaurant with a twist. Selections include Pomegranate Wings, Duck Carnitas Tacos, and Lobster Burrito.
This sports bar has a wonderful pet-friendly patio. There are always at least 20 craft beers on tap, and you can satisfy your hunger with wings, pizza, burgers, soup, and more.
A lovely place to eat, with pet-friendly seating on the porch. The menu has a New Orleans influence and includes selections like Crawfish Beignets, Oysters on the Half Shell, Maque Choux Risotto, and Catfish Remoulade, plus decidedly non-Southern offerings like Duck Ragu, Bouillabaisse, and their lamb burger, topped with red peppers and provolone and served with truffled potatoes.
Come and check out their selection of more than 50 wines by the glass. You can also nibble or nosh on small plates or something more substantial, from Warm Olives with Artichoke Focaccia and Foie Gras with Balsamic Glaze to Brussel Sprout and Bacon Pizza to Rack of Lamb or the Wine Bar Burger with tomato jam. Grab a pet-friendly table in their outdoor seating and enjoy it with your pooch.
