This grassy off-leash park has a 2 1/2-acre area for large dogs, and a 1-acre area for small and special-needs dogs. Both have double-gated entries, benches, and doggy water fountains. Your dog must be licensed, wherever you live, and the Pasadena Humane Society sporadically spot-checks the park for licenses. Open every day but Tuesday from dawn to dusk.
CalTech is in Pasadena, just a short hop from Los Angeles, assuming, of course, you don't hit traffic. While you're visiting, there are plenty of great restaurants with pet friendly patios and decks where Fido is welcome to sup or sip with you. And The Raymond 1886 takes the prize for most beautiful, with an outdoor chandelier and stone fireplace that is ablaze on cool nights. The steakhouse-style menu includes delicious fare like Grilled Shrimp Panzanella and braised short rib served with a crispy pig ear salad.
We also love the Magnolia House for cocktails and fun small plates like Korean Fried Chicken Wings and Linguica Mac & Cheese.Pasadena has two great dog parks. The Alice Frost Kennedy Dog Park has two very generously sized grassy areas for large and small dogs. South Paws-Adena Dog Park includes a doggy water fountain as well as a castle play area for the canines.
