I frequently choose Motel 6 when traveling with my pet: they are generally a good value for just a quick overnight stay. The Motel 6 in Marshalltown was the first Motel 6 I’ve patronized to require a cash fee for my pet beyond a deposit. No one was at the front desk when I arrived or dropped by to check out—just a number to call. After a wait of not a few minutes, a young lady arrived to check us in. She was nice and tried to be helpful, but someone had to walk her through the check-in process over the phone. If I’m going to pay extra for my pet, I will choose another hotel that provides amenities and front desk service next time I visit Marshalltown. The room itself was fine, though the beds were less comfortable than most.

I got sick because of the dust in the room

This was the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed at. I checked in at 10:40 pm so it was late and I had been traveling all day. I was supposed to be there for 2 nights. I had a 13 year old with me. After we brought everything to the room, we were ready for bed. The pillow cases had make up on them. The bedspread had stains. The shower looked like it had never been cleaned. The floors were gross. There were about 25 guys in the back of the hotel partying until 11:30. We slept in our clothes with socks on. There was no blow dryer or little coffee pot. We were not staying another night. I checked out at 630 am. No one was at the desk. You had to call someone, who never came to the desk. He said he would refund me for Saturday but didn't care that I was upset and said I wasn't his boss and couldnt complain to him. He said it's a motel 6, what do you expect?? Really? How about clean sheets and shower.

Cheap clean quiet

Very poor service. Dirty conditions. Outside doors propped open 24 hours a day making it feel very unsafe. No front desk help so we had to call to get into our room late in the evening. The help sleeps on the 2nd floor. Not a good experience!

Hotel was in need of some upkeep. Door repair is needed into corridor. Somewhat noisy but not too bad.

Ice machine broken was replaced with a small “home” unit, broken towel rods in bathroom, front door would not close properly so security was poor, manager was not on the property, if you needed something you had to call his cell phone and wait about an hour to get what you needed.

I did not feel safe leaving a brand new bike outside.
