The room was supposed to be a non-smoking room. Nope. It smelled like like a giant ashtray with smoke still in the air. I left the door open, then opened both windows to air the room out. But there were no screens on the windows, so I had to turn off the lights to make sure bugs did not fly into the room. After the smoke smell cleared out, I closed the windows. Next morning when I opened the curtains, I could see cigarette butts outside the window on the room. Everything else was okay.

I was only in Portland one night to attend a wedding, and needed a place to stay near the venue. I also needed a reasonable price. This simple, basic motel was perfect. There are no amenities to speak of - no free breakfast, or even coffee - no pool. There is guest laundry, but I didn't need it. My room was clean and fresh. The AC worked and wasn't noisy. I didn't even turn on the TV. The internet was fast and easy to access. The front desk staff was great! If you want a basic, no frills place to sleep and shower, this is a good choice.

We stayed in different rooms on April 29 and on May 1, 2026. The rooms seemed recently renovated. This is a no-frills accommodation: there are a little refrigerator and cups, but no coffee-maker. The concierge on each night was welcoming and competent. My only complaint is that on the second night, our supposedly non-smoking room smelled strongly of stale tobacco smoke. I reported this to the concierge, and she said that she would advise the manager to run a de-odorizing machine. (We did not ask for a different room, because we thought we were given the last available room.)
