Hampton charged me for the room even though I had paid hotels.com when I booked it. But Hampton charged $30 less. What gives?

Our room was spacious and clean. It looked like it had been recently renewed or renovated. The heater malfunctioned and we were quickly moved to a different room.
Down side: this hotel allows dogs. One night while we were attempting to sleep, a dog was barking continually for several minutes. I called the front desk who said they would investigate. Shortly after calling the barking stopped. Apparently, the dog's owner left it in the room alone. When he/she returned the dog stopped. Annoying.

We paid extra for the name brand hotel hopefully to get better hotel stay experience. The food is good, the location is great; However, the WIFI is not working (it works for all other hotel stays).
