Maria at the desk was so helpful and patient for our large group. The door man was fantastic also, he had brown hair, middle age Italian man full of great pizza suggestions and super helpful with transportation. Great location, room though are showing their age but still an exceptional hotel in a perfect location.

The hotel is based off 52nd street so you have Park Lane, Maddison and 5th avenue on your doorstep along with Central Park being only a few blocks further. The reception and the concierge are great, helped us when needed and were great to talk to. The room was clean and bed comfortable. Could have done with a kettle so we could make a coffee or tea. We did however try room service (2 cups of tea and 2 small bottles of water). Ordered, and waited and waited. 40 minutes later I called room service to find out he forgot the order. Not good. 25 minutes later the products came with what can only be described as a ridiculous cost of 31$. I didn’t put a tip due to the poor service but that’s a huge cost for 2 pots of hot water, a small jug of milk, a few tea bags and 2 small bottles of water. That was my only issue with the hotel and while it’s probably not uncommon, make the price more reasonable. Anyway nice hotel barring that and would recommend it. Stock up on water outside the hotel though. We didn’t do breakfast at the hotel.

Rooms are adequate for the standard price. However, "peak" pricing makes it far too overpriced for what you get. Cleanliness is another issue. The bathroom was, at best, mediocre. The counter was sticky, and the light above the shower had a collection of dust that was clearly ignored. Service is a whole other related topic. The front desk was fair with the welcome. There is no generous hello or welcome. Just a simple "New York" look of why are you here? Room service was almost non-existent. We rang the front several times over a 30 min period to get water that never came. The concierge desk was empty most times when we went down to get toiletries and towels. Pro tip: When asking for toiletries, ask for them all. It's Sophie's choice if you dont go down there and spell it out. The restaurant attached to the lobby needs a complete overhaul of leadership, training, and personnel. The bartenders were rude, passive, and ignored customers patiently waiting for an acknowledgment. We decided to invest our time to confirm what we were witnessing, and it took 27 mins to be acknowledged and served a drink. Customers were actively walking from their tables to the bar for water and drinks and were presented with the silent treatment and were practically invisible to the staff. The host guarding the precious real-estate seating was short of starting chaos the way he was treating customers just wanting attention. Simply put, go elsewhere for food, drinks, and a shred of hospitality.
