Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Baldwinsville / Syracuse
131 Downer St, Baldwinsville, NY 13027
Hotel Review
Not the cleanest hotel and wall paper was peeling in our room. The bed was not comfortable. The area to eat breakfast was less than adequate; High table and low chairs.

This property had three disgusting chairs in our room. Each appeared to have mold on the seats. Smell of something, probably mold, upon entering the room. Wallpaper ripped in many places. No USB outlets at all. There were outlets underneath the night stands which were very hard to get to. You wouldn’t even know they were there if you didn’t get on your knees and search. The were towels soaking up water in the main lobby. It’s not a good place to stay any more.

The carpet was damp throughout the room. There were no easily accessible outlets for my cpap machine or phone charging. Towels were paper thin. Bathroom mirror had a chip in the corner and the tub was slick causing a fall hazard. I’ll never stay in a Microtel or any related property.

Did not like the breakfast and the fact that there are no refrigerators, microwaves, or coffee pots in the rooms. I know that this is an inn and not a hotel but at this price there should be something more to help with the meals.

We have stayed at this location for the last 4-5 years, a layover midway to our final destination. It was a basic place to stay (i.e. inexpensive) that allowed dogs and was 10 minutes from the turnpike. We appreciated that it was a simple night's lodging at a reasonable price after a long day's drive--our expectations were a clean, safe room/s with AC and plumbing that worked well.
July 2024 marks the last time we'll be staying here.
Quick summary:
1) Requested adjoining rooms (both when reservation was made and followed up by a phone call the same day) was not fulfilled. At check-in I was told that I should have called again a few days before our arrival date to remind them and confirm the request. (so it's my fault)
2) Side exit door to north parking lot was always propped open with a stone, the keycard security system did not function. Major safety issue.
3) Toilet continued to run water (loudly) for 10 minutes after flushing.
4) Bathroom in one room (we had paid for two) had not been cleaned--dirty towels on the floor, quite a gross mess. We got a different room.
5) Not enough towels in the bathroom for two adults.
6) Smell from cigarette smoke permeated the room, even worse in the steamy, humid hallway.
7) Wall mounted hair dryer unit was on the bathroom counter.
8) "Free Breakfast" was abysmal-they used to have yogurt..no more.
A cheap place for a night, 1-2 small issues are no big deal, but dirty rooms, basic plumbing/key entry, stale smoke...nope.

Property is run down and not good to stay at - smells and obvious ownership is not reinvesting into upkeep and care…stay elsewhere.

Room was in the 90s for temp. Hallway way hotter. Everything is outdated. They couldnt even get me into a clean room when i got there. The card maker was not working to get a key card for my room. The shower was only half woeking and didnt drain so before i was done showering i was standing in water. The doors were mostly left open for what reasons idk. Weird bells and smells coming from open door rooms. Drunks and crackheads everywhere. Stay away

Was okay for a one night stay. Room was neat and tidy. Hallway had a very peculiar odor, almost like someone was making meatballs in a crockpot. Moulding in the shower was falling off but there was thankfully no mold or anything. Not the greatest for an extended stay but it’s habitable for a one night stay.
