Colgate was originally founded in 1817 as a theological school. It wasn't until 1890 that the name changed to Colgate, in recognition of William Colgate, who was one of the original trustees (and yes, the founder of the soap company). The Colgate family also established a $1 million endowment. Colgate sits on 575 bucolic acres upstate New York, its original stone buildings made from rock quarried on site.

Come for the beer and stay for the menu, which focuses on locally sourced ingredients and offers a creative selection of salads, pizza from their wood-fired oven, burgers (including smash burgers like the Pimento Memento), and sandwiches. Enjoy it all in their pet-friendly bier garden. Brunch is served on Sundays until 3 p.m., with a menu that changes every week. Open Monday through Wednesday 4 to 10 p.m., Thursday through Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

We love that one of the many organizations you can get involved with as a student at Colgate is Pet Pals. Members volunteer at Wanderers' Rest Humane Society and Spring Farm Cares Animal & Nature Sanctuary providing dogs and cats with much needed play, petting, and cuddle time as well as cleaning up dishes and cleaning out cages.
Hamilton is a lovely town, complete with a village green. If you are looking for a pet friendly place to eat, don't miss The Inn at Colgate, right in the center of the village, and a local institution. You and your canine are welcome to relax on their front patio to sip a cocktail or order from the menu, which includes California Chicken Avocado Panini, Forest Mushroom Gnocchi, Shepherd's Pie, and more.
Still in Hamilton but just a short drive from the center of town is Good Nature Brewery & Tap Room, which has a pet friendly beer garden and a menu that features locally sourced ingredients in their wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, and salads.
