This is as seasonal and fun as it gets. Umbrella tables and a tiki bar set up, as the name says, by an elevator. MIT is a highly competitive school but it also makes a point of looking out for health and well-being of its students. One very pet friendly way they have done this is through the MIT Puppy Lab, which trains local pooches to become therapy dogs. Here are some of the canines that are part of that effort. Students get to take a break from their studies to hook up and de-stress with these guys at Furry First Fridays, held at the library.

And who knew?! MIT is cat friendly. It has several undergraduate dorms with designated "cat-friendly areas," which means students can have a cat, with prior consent of the school and the students on that floor. One of the many things we find awesome about this is that such dorms have to choose a Pet Chair. We want that on our resume!

MIT is located in pet-friendly Cambridge, close to the Charles River and not far from Harvard. If you'd like to explore more of Boston without your car, the T is pet-friendly-just not at rush hour. Otherwise, your dog can be on a leash and smaller animals like cats and rabbits must be in carrier that you hold on your lap.

If the hunger pangs strike, there are plenty of pet friendly restaurants in Cambridge. Charlie's Kitchen is a local institution, serving up salmonburgers and lobster burgers along with their famous double cheeseburger and much more. It has a dog friendly beer garden that is open all year, weather permitting.

Also check out Cambridge Brewing Company in Kendall Square. They've got a rotating selection of more than a dozen of their beers on tap, and a killer menu, a tasty combination of classic pub offerings and knock your head off fusion flavors. Choose from Fried Whole Belly Clams, burgers your way, Pickle Brined Fried Hot Chicken, Chinese BBQ Pork Belly Sliders, and so much more.

We also love Henrietta's Table, open daily for breakfast lunch, and dinner. They've got a mix of the old and the new, with Yankee Pot Roast, Barbecue Ale-Braised Pulled Lamb Shank, Maine Rock Crab and Corn Chowder, and Farro-Quinoa Vegetable Salad.
