The room had been recently re-painted and cleaned. It was sparsely furnished with two queen beds and a desk -- plenty of empty space where a table or chair might have been. The floor was cold gray linoleum (no rugs), the walls were gray, the bedspread white, the lighting was harsh blue-white neon. The total effect was stark, cold, and grim. The only blanket was thin, summer-weight, and there were no spare blankets. At night when the temperature dropped to 28 degrees, we turned on the heat, only to discover the heater made such a loud noise we could not sleep. We turned off the heater but could not stay warm under the thin blanket. Luckily, we were driving a U-Haul truck and had been given more protective furniture coverings than needed. So slept under a U-Haul packing blanket for warmth that night, spreading it over the bed. Ugh. I will not go to this motel again.
