There was a noise that would happen in my room every morning around 7am. Like as if someone was drilling into my floor. I wen tot the front desk, they said they would send an engineer. they did not. I found the enginer myself, he said he would send someone into the room to investigate, he did not. 6 day stay and every morngin was the same story with no escape.

There are only 2 elevators for over 20 floors and housekeeping uses these 2 elevators as well which means once you get on the elevator it's likely going to stop on every floor. While we were there one elevator went out and within a few hours the 2nd elevator went out (first one still not fixed).

I have stayed here twice now in the penthouse and it is amazing!! So much bigger than most NYC hotels, this hotel room is always my first choice when I’m in New York. The penthouse is on the 27th floor and has a view of the Empire State Building and a really large balcony which was so ideal for when we went in summer. Plenty of space we could have both our suitcases open on the floor without having to step over it to get somewhere. Hotel lobby is quite small and there arent many amenities here but if you are in NYC more than likely you are going to be exploring outside the hotel anyway! So wasn’t a problem for us. The only fault I have is the fact there are only 2 lifts can sometimes be a bit inconvenient and cause delay. I do feel for the housekeeping staff as they use the same lifts as guests and the amount of times I saw them have to wait for another lift as the lift was too full must really make their day a lot longer. But staff are great, housekeeping is great. The location is a good location for getting around and close to a subway station however we were just a bit cautious at night as there are a lot of homeless and we noticed a quite a lot of (what we were told were) illegal immigrants hanging around nearby the hotel but I think this is a problem everywhere at the moment, not the hotels fault, so just have your wits about you & you will be fine! :-)

Wouldnt recommend to anyone, TERRIBLE hotel, can find better ones at cheaper cost, and better staff who actually know what they’re doing

Booked a 2 Double room with Empire State Building views for 6 nights. Was in room 2504. The views of the Empire State Building at night were the best part. The view was off to the right and above us but we couldn’t see any traffic but heard it. It was nice to see the lights twinkle each hour and some evenings the empire state building was lit up in a special colour. Location was super handy to subway stations and restaurants/shopping. However it also meant it was noisy with all the fire trucks, ambulance sirens. The noise from other hotel rooms was not too bad. Room was old and very cramped as the furniture was bulky. Not sure how you would fit 4 people in with all their luggage! We were only a party of 3 people. They gave us warm welcome cookies however some cookies were not fully baked. Reception staff were helpful in signing me up to their rewards program so we could get free wifi. They also gave us a kettle on request (as had a coffee machine by default). Lifts could get busy at check out time and in the morning. Only 2 small lifts for the 27 story building. We chose to not get room service each day. Had my own travel clothes lines and was able to hang a couple of lines over the shower/bath. Not enough hooks to hang a 3rd or 4th towel properly or the face towels. They had pump packs on the wall with Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries. Air/heating was noisy big bulky unit that took up a lot of space near the window. The window did slide open a little to get fresh air. We us
