August is a great time to plan a trip in the US that includes not just your human family, but your pets as well. Summer events are at their peak, with lots of things taking place outdoors, which always makes it easier to bring your dog along to join in the fun.

Of course, there are also events going on in August that cater specifically to pets and their people. Here’s a rundown of some of the pet events in the US in August around which you might just want to plan a vacation.

Pet Events in the USA – August 2014

There are a lot of great family activities this August happening across the states. If you aren’t near any of the cities listed, check with your local humane society to see what events are happening near you. Pet Palooza

When: August 2-3, 2014 10am to 5pm

2 day festival for pets and their owners to have fun and engage in the activities. Face-painting and other activities for children will be available. If you’re thinking it is time to adopt another furry buddy, don’t worry – local rescue groups will have adoption booths and there will also trainers who will answer any questions you have about your pet. You can also enter your dog in to the DockDogs Competition.

Paws in the Grove Doggie Dash and Pet Fair

When: August 2, 2014 9:30am to 2:30pm

Come to the 2nd annual doggie dash in Forest Grove. There will be over 30 vendors and demonstrations by the Deaf Dogs of Oregon. Come on down and watch the demonstrations, eat some great food, and listen to some live music. If you want to register to be part of the dash, you’ll receive a goodie bag, bandana, and number to wear as you cross the finish line of the 1 or 2 mile run/walk.

Dreamland Band Yappy Hour

When: August 7, 2014 4pm to 8pm

Sisters Doggie Dash

Puppy Crawl
