June is a great time to plan a trip in the US that includes not just your human family, but your pets as well. Summer events are plentiful, with lots of things taking place outdoors, which always makes it easier to bring your dog along to join in the fun. Here’s a rundown of some of the pet events in the US in June around which you might just want to plan a vacation.

With so many pet events across the country, this list can’t be quite comprehensive – at least not without your help. Is your pet event, or one in your area, missing from our list? Please help us update this list to keep it current by leaving the information in a comment below!

Pet Events in the USA – June 2013

There are a lot of great family activities this June happening across the states. If you aren’t near any of the cities listed, check with your local humane society to see what events are happening near you. This information was correct when it was published – please check with the local event organizers for the most up-to-date schedule, location, and admission information.

Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days

When: June 1-2, 2013
Where: Over 50 locations throughout NYC
Admission: Free!

This is going to be huge! Maddie’s Fund is hosting Pet Adoption Days to help the rescue organizations in NYC find homes for their foster pets, shelter critters, and lovely older animal companions. All of whom just want FUREVER Homes and a warm bed to snooze on. The goal of Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days is to give all healthy, senior, and treatable shelter dogs and cats a second chance. The event also will help rescue organizations financially, thereby allowing them to save even more lives. If you have thought about getting a pet, a second pet, or a third – check out the locations where rescue groups will be set up and maybe you will save a life, or a life will save you.

Dallas Pet Expo

When: June 8, 2013 10am to 6pm
Where: The Tower Building in Fair Park 1200 S 2nd Ave, Dallas, TX

Bring your pet to the Dallas Pet Expo! Meet Shorty Rossi from “Pit Boss” and see some of the latest and greatest pet products on the market from 100s of vendors. Rescue groups will be present along with education booths. Demonstrations in agility, obedience, and working dogs will be going on throughout the day. It’s going to be fun for the whole family. Low-cost vaccines and micro-chipping will be available too.

Bark N Blues 5K Run

When: June 8, 2013
Where: Brookwood Elementary 3411 W 103rd St, Leawood, KS
Admission: $25 for the 1 mile walk, $30 for the 5K

If you want to participate and help Bark N Blues in raising money to aid in the ongoing efforts of smaller animal rescue groups as they strive to help homeless animals find loving homes, then register for the walk or run. If you aren’t the type to run around, bring the family and cheer on the runners. Your dog is welcome too! There will be vendors, some fun and games, and a fun is guaranteed!

21st Annual Paws Walk

When: June 9, 2013 10am to 3pm
Where: Stratham Hill Park 270 Portsmouth Ave Stratham, NH

Come walk and help save lives! The money raised from those who participate helps pets find new forever homes. Check out all the vendors and booths that will be there after the walk. You may even find your new buddy at the adoption booth.

Puppy Prom

When: June 15, 2013 3pm to 6pm
Where: Toyota of Manhattan 645 11th Ave New York, NY

The Puppy Prom is to help the Metropolitan Maltese Rescue of NYC. All canines, dressed in their finest prom wear, will compete for the title of King and Queen of the Prom. Celebrity Guests will be the judges for fantastic prizes for the crowning of the King and Queen. There will also be a raffle and some great prizes. Your dog doesn’t have to be a Maltese to go, just has to have a love of other dogs and play well with everyone.

Pooch-A-Palooze

When: June 22-23, 2013

Don’t miss this fantastic outdoor dog and music festival! Pooch-A-Palooza will be held at Prowse Farm. There will be music, a beer garden, and great food. For the kids, a play area with games, crafts, and bounce houses. Your dog will be the most active with all the contests such as Best Dressed, Dog Look-A-Like, and agility and frisbee contests. Bring everyone and be ready to be tired at the end of the day!

Dogfest 2013

When: June 23, 2013 10am to 7pm

Dogfest 2013 is a day long party with agility demos, obedience demonstrations, live music, educational seminars, and tons of pet vendors. There are also going to be raffles and auctions. Bring your pet and enter the contests for some great prizes such as 6 months of free grooming!
