Best Western has more than 1600 pet-friendly hotels in the U.S. Canada and the Carribean. Beyond dogs, many of them accept other small animals including cats and birds. Just make sure to contact the hotel ahead of time because they do have differing policies.
Not only does BW give the thumbs up to your four-legged friend, they are also very knowledgeable in the ways of pets. Some have exclusive areas to walk your dogs, and many concierges can help you with recommendations for pet-friendly parks and stores and restaurants so you can spend real quality time with your animal. To that we say: SWEET!
In general, BW pet-friendly hotels allow up to two dogs with a maximum weight of 80 lbs. each. Check with them about other animals. As far as a fee, it’s usually $20 a day no matter the number of pets, and no more than $100 per week.
Pet Travel Tip:
Once you get to your destination, take your dog for a walk to stretch his legs so he can get comfortable and enjoy the new surroundings. A happy dog = a very happy human (especially on vacation!).
A bit of history:
Best Western was founded by M.K. Guertin in 1946. It started as a “referral” chain in which one hotel would recommend another hotel to travelers and call the front desk to arrange reservations. Eventually, this loose affiliation became one of the best-known hotel chains in the world.
