La Quinta has long been an industry leader in pet-friendly policies. However, their 2018 acquisition by Wyndham has resulted in a shift away from their overall pet policy of no pet fee or size limit. As of November 2022, all La Quinta properties have adopted a uniform policy of allowing cats and dogs for $25 per pet per night with a maximum fee of $75 per stay. The weight limit is now 75 lbs with up to 2 pets (cats and dogs) allowed per room.

While many La Quintas are located off interstates for convenience and to get you somewhat situated near the center of things, the Cocoa Beach Oceanfront, as its name suggests, puts you right in the middle of it. It’s just steps from the ocean, allowing you access to great kayaking and surfing on Florida’s beautiful coast. If you and your pooch want take a stroll on the popular Cocoa Beach Pier, filled with restaurants and bars, the hotel is right next to it. It’s also near the Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral and the Merrit Island National Wildlife Refuge. While dogs aren’t allowed on most of the trails at the Refuge, there are plenty of parks and outdoor areas nearby that do allow them, including Lori Wilson Park, which has an off-leash area for your pet to stretch his legs. And don’t forget to take a leashed walk on I Dream of Jeannie Lane, the fictional setting of the famous sit-com of the 1960s.

More than 95% of the Deschutes National Forest accommodates off-leash dog walking in the summer, making it a hiker's paradise, with 1,200 miles of available trails and another 54 miles of trails that require your dog to be on a leash. While you are in the forest can visit the Newberry National Volcanic Monument that showcases the Lava Lands of Central Oregon.
