Dog-Friendly Vacationing in Knoxville, Tennessee

Knoxville is the third-largest city in the state, and is the largest city in the eastern part of Tennessee. This city has a downtown area that has some nice restaurants, and there are also a couple lovely dog parks to check out during your stay with your canine!

Attractions

Ijams Nature Center

The Ijams Nature Center is a 275-acre wildlife sanctuary, full of forests, meadows, creeks, streams, caves, wetlands, a lake and a boardwalk on the bank of the Tennessee River. Lots of beautiful plants and animals are located throughout this park. Leashed dogs are allowed to explore the nature areas with their owners, but cannot go into any buildings.

Marble Hills Historic Farmstead

The Marble Hills Historic Farmstead is the former home of John Sevier, an American frontiersmen, soldier and the state’s first governor. Leashed dogs can walk around outside, but are not allowed in the buildings.

Parks

Dogwood Park

Dogwood Park is located in the greater Victor Ashe Park. It is about one acre in size, and is the first off-leash dog park in the city. Dogwood Park is completely fenced, and has a puppy playground with an inclined hill, a puppy jump, a tunnel and a dog water fountain.

Petsafe Village Dog Park

The Petsafe Village Dog Park is slightly over one acre in size, and is an on-leash dog park that has certain off-leash hours. It features a natural pond, agility equipment, park benches, picnic tables, walking trails and a dog water fountain.

It is located by greater Petsafe Village, which offers cat and dog accomodation, as well as dog grooming and training services.

Outdoor Restaurants

Oodles Uncorked

Oodles Uncorked is an Italian-American restaurant located in Historic Market Square, and they serve lunch and dinner. Leashed dogs are allowed at the outside tables.

Pelancho’s Mexican Grill

Pelancho’s Mexican Grill has an Old Mexican atmosphere, with lots of handcrafted items around the restaurant. They offer drinks with their meat and vegetarian options. Leashed dogs can sit at the outside tables.

Downtown Grill and Brewery

The Downtown Grill and Brewery offers lots of beers and meat options. Leashed dogs can sit at the outdoor tables.

The Tomato Head

The Tomato Head offers many different varieties of pizza. Leashed dogs are welcome at the outside area.
